OUR GREEN CHOICE

"I think having land and not ruining it is the most beautiful art that anybody could ever want to own" Andy Wahrol

We fully feel these words, which is why one of our most heartfelt commitments is that towards the environment: at CoatYarn® we try to make products as sustainable as possible, minimizing the environmental impact.

CoatYarn® was born in 2019 as an advanced technology 4.0 company, sister of Expotex S.r.l., which boasts over 30 years experience in the technical textile sector, CoatYarn® deals with the production of various types of coated yarns.

TPU Evolution® in its many varieties is our flagship line: a 100% Italian made yarn, made up of a Polyester core (PET) and a Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) coat. Many other versions are available in a wide variety of counts.

Completely solvent-free, TPU Evolution® is non-toxic and safe for both humans and the environment. It is a sadly known fact that the production process of most solvents leads to the emission of greenhouse gases, and their volatility is unfortunately known as one of the main causes of damage to the stratospheric ozone

The absence of solvents therefore means respect for the quality of the air we all breathe and our groundwater, as well as respect for the health of our employees and all those involved - and not - in the production process. Our production does not generate polluting fumes, and the presence of systems equipped with activated carbon filters contributes to purifying the air.

The water-free technology with which TPU Evolution® is extruded and colored is yet another cornerstone of our reality, whose benefit is the total absence of water in the production process and the subsequent lack of disposal of pollutants in the groundwater; internal research has also led us towards the use of increasingly natural pigments. and the consequent failure to dispose of pollutants in the groundwater; internal research has also led us towards the use of increasingly natural pigments.

We also coat natural fibers, such as cotton and silk, for a more durable product that can be used over and over again thanks our TPU coat, which maximizes the fiber resistance to abrasion and external agents, minimizing at the same time wear and tear.v

Zero waste is the motto of our production process, perfected to the point of making full use of raw materials and eliminating waste. The desire to perfect ourselves, together with the use of clean resources, has led to an improvement in efficiency resulting in a low energy impact production: all this actively contributes to the reduction of polluting emissions.

The use of recycled and GRS - Global Recycling Standard- certified PET, derived from plastic bottles recovered from the ocean, guarantees the full performances of conventional PET; the attention of our technicians is always more directed towards the use of natural fibers and the development of yarns derived from biosource.

TPU Evolution® is supplied ready for use and does not require further processing, therefore avoiding any unnecessary energy waste. Furthermore, our yarns do not release microplastics in any of the production phases, nor in the subsequent finishing and washing, thus avoiding damages to our seas, rivers and the environment we live in.

The automated production line moves the yarns along belts using a low energy system. In addition, we chose to expand the lighting surface in the building so to allow natural light to prevail, always in compliance with all insulation standards; the benefits of natural lighting are many and proven by numerous studies citing among others the benefits for the eyesight and mood; we also use low consumption LED lamps in the production space, contributing to a reduced energy impact.

In full respect of the environment beginning-to-end of production, we also thought of a form of packaging as natural as possible, entirely made of recyclable cardboard and paper. 17% of all cardboard packaging and cones, and all cones destined to the extrusion process, are continuously reused. We also reuse pallets in the production plant, all of them being of course certified.

The same stringent protocols are in place for all of our product ranges: we have a dedicated Technical textile yarn division, aptly called Industrial range, which focuses on the environmental conscious study and production of technical yarns combined with the most performant polymers.

Finally, the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certification guarantees compliance with the most recent regulations applicable to the textile sector, in addition to the compliance with all Reach requirements that we ask from our suppliers.
